Veda Hallowes
Sculptor, London
As an stablished sculptor now working exclusively in bronze, Veda uses fruits as a metaphor for the female torso. Her bronzes exude fertility and sensuality, as well as humour, through the gentle curves of their forms and the unique and elaborate patinas that Veda has developed over years of experimenting with the lost wax bronze casting process and enhancing her pieces with rich and unusual patinas. The finish is warm and tactile.
Little Pear. Bronze, 15 x 8 x 8 cm each
Born and brought up in South Africa, Veda lives and works in Wimbledon, London.
Over the years her work has been enriched by the experience of living and working in South Africa, Peru, Hong Kong and Pakistan.
As well as fruit, Veda also works to create birds in flight, butterflies, and abstract forms. These pieces are originals and mostly commissioned.
Veda founded Kaleidoscope Arts in 1993, a group of established sculptors who exhibited regularly together and ran the sculpture workshops at the Affordable Art Fair from 2001 - 2013.
